TV Mounting on Brick Walls in Buckhead Atlanta

A professional TV mounting project on an exposed brick wall in Buckhead, featuring masonry anchoring, careful drilling, and seamless cord concealment in a classic Atlanta home.

Exposed Brick in Buckhead Homes

Buckhead is one of Atlanta's most prestigious neighborhoods, known for its mix of grand estates, renovated mid-century homes, and upscale condominiums. Many of these properties feature exposed brick walls as architectural focal points, whether original to the structure or deliberately exposed during renovations. This project involved a homeowner in a renovated 1950s ranch-style home near Peachtree Battle who had a beautiful exposed red brick wall in the living room and wanted a 65-inch LG OLED mounted at center with no visible cables. Brick mounting is one of the more demanding wall types for TV installation, but when done correctly the combination of a sleek modern TV against warm, textured brick creates a stunning visual contrast that homeowners love. The key is using the right tools and techniques to anchor securely without damaging the brick face.

Masonry Drilling and Anchor Placement

When mounting into brick, you have two options for where to place anchors: into the brick itself or into the mortar joints between bricks. Both can work, but each has trade-offs. Drilling into the brick body provides the strongest hold because fired clay brick is extremely dense, but a misplaced hole or a crack from drilling will permanently damage the brick face. Drilling into mortar joints is more forgiving because mortar can be repaired if needed, but mortar is softer and provides slightly less holding power per anchor. For this Buckhead project, our technician chose to anchor into the brick body using a rotary hammer drill with masonry bits. Four heavy-duty sleeve anchors were placed into pilot holes drilled at slow speed to prevent cracking. Each anchor was rated for over 200 pounds of pull-out resistance, far exceeding the weight of the TV and full-motion bracket combined. The bracket was then leveled against the uneven brick surface using rubber spacers to account for the mortar joint recesses.

Concealing Cables on Brick

Cable concealment on a brick wall requires a different approach than drywall. Running cables inside the wall cavity is not possible with solid brick, so the options are either surface-mounted raceways or drilling a dedicated cable channel through the masonry. For this installation, the homeowner wanted the cleanest possible result, so our technician drilled a one-inch channel through the brick at a downward angle behind the TV, exiting near the baseboard where a power outlet was located. HDMI and low-voltage cables were routed through a conduit in the channel, and a power bridge kit handled the electrical connection. The entry and exit points were finished with trim plates color-matched to the brick tone. From normal viewing distance, the cable routing is invisible against the textured brick surface.
